dear friends,

Welcome to the JACK Foundation, a fund of the Rochester Area Community
Foundation established to honor our sweet son, Jack James Heiligman.

Jack was born February 26th, 2013. He was our first born - a perfect baby boy. We were so excited to start the next chapter of our lives as parents.

Two years later, we were blessed with a second son, Joey. Jack and Joey brought more happiness, laughter and love into our lives than we could have ever imagined.

Jack loved time with mom and dad, and grandparents, and aunts.  He loved dinosaur books, dinosaur movies and dinosaur toys. He loved baseball, football, playing with friends in the neighborhood and friends at Kiddie Academy Daycare. He loved going to the zoo and everything the color blue. Jack was a happy, sweet, curious little boy with a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious smile.

On October 15th, 2016, tragedy struck. We lost our precious three year-old son Jack in a lawn mower accident in our backyard. Within minutes we went from having everything anyone could ever ask for, to having to deal with every parent's worst nightmare.

The outpouring of love and support from the community, especially the blue light campaign (#BlueforJackJames), inspired us to act. The only way we can find a measure of peace is to give back to the community in Jack's name. We are determined to make this happen through the JACK Foundation, a fund of the Rochester Area Community Foundation.

Thank you for all of your love and support.

- Anne and AJ Heiligman

1. Fund the Construction of Dinosaur Themed Playgrounds

Jack loved dinosaurs and, in his memory, we will fund the construction of dinosaur themed playgrounds for children in municipal parks in the Greater Rochester area. Our goal is to make the playgrounds fun and educational.

All contributions to the JACK Foundation (Fund) will be put in a fund to support the construction of the dinosaur themed playgrounds.

All contributions to the JACK Foundation (Fund) of Rochester Area Community Foundation are tax-deductible.

2. Coordinate Volunteer Activities

We will also coordinate volunteer activities by joining together as Jack's Crew to make a positive impact in the community. Our mission is simple:

Just Acts of Caring and Kindness

We will be partnering with charities and not-for-profit organizations in the community. We will ask volunteers to help support
worthwhile endeavors.

Our life will never be the same without our son Jack. He was our beautiful baby boy; he was our life. We lost a piece of our hearts, but hope and trust that together we can keep Jack's memory alive by supporting the worthwhile projects described above.

Thank you for all of your love and support.
